When the Searching Stops
Liberation is not somewhere to arrive, but something revealed when the searching, grasping, and conceptualizing finally cease.
Liberation is not a destination.
There is nowhere we must arrive.
Perhaps it is only when we stop chasing, stop searching, stop trying to become something else, that liberation can reveal itself.
Much of our searching arises from ignorance — from concepts and notions we mistake for reality.
We name our experiences.
We judge them.
We divide them into what we want and what we do not want, what should remain and what should disappear.
And then we suffer trying to make experience conform to those ideas.
To let go is not to reject experience.
It is to stop struggling with it.
Pleasure arises.
Pain arises.
Thoughts arise.
Sensations arise.
They manifest according to causes and conditions, and in time they pass.
There is nothing that must be grasped.
Nothing that must be pushed away.
We simply make peace with the mental and physical experiences of this present moment.
Not searching for liberation somewhere beyond what is here.
Not waiting for another moment to finally be free.
When the chasing stops, perhaps we discover that what we were searching for was never a destination at all.
It was the letting go.
